One of the forgotten episodes in the mass exodus of Oilers players was the departure of Grant Fuhr, Craig Berube, and Glenn Anderson on September 19th 1991. We traded two of the Oilers greatest players to the Maple Leafs in return for Vincent Damphousse, Luke Richardson, Scott Thornton, and Peter Ing. This was shortly before the start of the 1991-1992 campaign, which marked the beginning of true mediocrity for Oilers fans.

Sure, having two #1 goalies (Fuhr and Ranford) isn't always a great look, and Anderson was nearing the end of his career, but inopportune trades like these helped forge a path for the Oilers to follow. This was the beginning of the playoff drought.
